by Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting’s Memorial Day Celebration is always a memorable event. Because of COVID-19 concerns, it was cancelled for 2020. The staff still wanted to make the day special, and safe, for the residents. They quickly organized the first “Memorial Day Patriots Parade”. Participants were asked to refrain from advertising on social media – approximately 300 decorated cars, trucks, motorcycles, and emergency vehicles lined up in the Orting High School parking lot, cut through town, and paraded through the Orting Washington State Soldier’s Home.
