Memorial Day Services will be held at 10 am on Monday, May 31, 2022 at the Sumner Cemetery, 12324 Valley Avenue E., Puyallup WA  98372

 Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting’s Memorial Day Celebration is always a memorable event.  Because of COVID-19 concerns, it was cancelled for 2020.  The staff still wanted to make the day special, and safe, for the residents.  They quickly organized the first “Memorial Day Patriots Parade”.  Participants were asked to refrain from advertising on social media – approximately 300 decorated cars, trucks, motorcycles, and emergency vehicles lined up in the Orting High School parking lot, cut through town, and paraded through the Orting Washington State Soldier’s Home.

The Memorial Day Ceremony at the Sumner Cemetery was modified because of COVID-19   Participants were the Sumner/Bonney Lake VFW Post 3070; Sumner Rainbow Girls; Sumner Historical Society; and GFWC Valley Volunteers (Sumner’s Women’s Club).  The address to access:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjrozfyIbbg
